Yellow Taxi Productions Conducting Fall Play at Hunt Building in Nashua

(Nashua, NH) Yellow Taxi Productions, Nashua's professional theatre company, will bring Taking Sides, the true story of German conductor William Furtwangler to stage September 19-27 at the Hunt Memorial Building in downtown Nashua.

Written by Ronald Harwood, author of The Pianist and The Dresser, and directed by Josiah George, the director of YTP's successful October 2006 production The Countess, tickets range from $25-$15 and are now available at the NH section of Theatermania.com.

It is 1946 Germany and the Americans have arrived to root out Nazi party members. Major Steve Arnold (played by Doug Chilson who YTP audiences will recognize from The Countess, Clean Alternatives and Six Nights in the Black Belt) can't forget the horror he saw at Bergen-Belsen and now he will make Furtwangler pay for those atrocities.

But is Furtwangler (played by David White who played Ruskin Sr. in The Countess) truly a Nazi or is he just a musician who cares more about his art than religion and politics? As Arnold's investigation deepens so does the mystery. The full cast consists of Massachusetts actors Arthur Barlas and Doug Chilson and NH actors John Decareau, Andrea DeFeo, Katie Rolph and David White.

Performances of Taking Sides are Friday, September 19 at 8pm, Saturday, September 20 at 4 & 8pm, Sunday, September 21 at 4pm, Thursday, September 25 at 8pm, Friday, September 26 at 8pm and Saturday September 27 at 4 & 8pm.

Seating is reserved. Group sale rates are available and can be purchased by contacting YTP at 603-791-4558.

Join YTP for a free panel discussion on Saturday, September 20th at 6:30pm titled 'Taking Sides during the De-Nazification of Germany'. Sponsored by the NH Humanities Council, panelists include Philip Pajakowski, PhD, Saint Anselm College's History Department Chair and Professor of Modern European History, Paul Vincent PhD, Associate Professor at Keene State College and coordinator of the Holocaust Studies minor, and Jonathan McPhee, Music Director & Principal Conductor of the Nashua Symphony.
