A true local success story… Seventeen-year-old actress Alexandra Socha started performing at age five and has been seen in dozens of productions at companies throughout southern New Hampshire. Most of her adolescent years were spent performing with the Nashua based Peacock Players. Photo credit: actorsingers.org On a whim, Alexandra attended an open call audition in Boston last April. Alexandra wasn’t expecting to hear anything, but two weeks prior to attending a summer acting program at Carnegie Mellon in Pennsylvania she received a callback in New York City for the Tony Award Winning production of Spring Awakening. So while heading to Carnegie in June Alexandra and her parents made a detour to NY for the callback. An hour and a half later while driving to Pittsburgh she received the call that forever changed her life: Alexandra was hired as the first replacement cast member for Spring Awakening. She now performs 8 times a week as an ensemble member, and is the principal understudy for the leading role of Wendla. Photo Credit: Dramatapix® Photography Spring Awakening is based on an 1891 play by Frank Wedekind that was banned for years. This rock musical version is set in a German village in the late 1800s. The adults refuse to tell teenagers anything about their bodies, and their frustration and confusion about puberty leads to destruction.
